Dr. Cadow has had post-doctoral training in child and adolescent psychology and has worked with teenagers for over 25 years.  She was a staff psychologist at the USC Medical School/Los Angeles County Hospital Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a consultant to two Los Angeles area child guidance centers and a juvenile diversion program for teens with legal problems.

While teens may be busy convincing the world that they are self-sufficient, they often need their parents and other significant adults more than they did when they were younger.  Getting them to listen to the adults who care about them is often difficult.  Helping parents make the decision to stay present in their teen’s life in spite of the many challenges is often the goal of treatment for parents.  Dr. Cadow can provide a bridge from adult to teen and often conducts sessions with both parties present. The complex issue of confidentiality when working with teenagers is always discussed and clarified at the outset of treatment.
